Working in our Data Division
Our Data division transforms satellite data into meaningful insights that drive real-world impact. The team delivers all data products generated by Open Cosmos and its partners, curates and develops Data Cosmos — our geospatial data platform — and builds integrations that make satellite imagery easy to access and act on. Their work helps organisations turn data into action and create positive change on Earth.
We’re looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join our Data Cosmos team, helping build the software that powers Open Constellation — our global satellite data network. You’ll learn from experienced engineers while contributing to systems that move data from orbit to insight.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their engineering journey who’s eager to develop strong software fundamentals and apply them in the fast-moving world of space technology.
What will you be doing?
- Support the development and testing of backend services for the Data Cosmos platform.
- Assist in building flight dynamics tools for propulsion, orbit determination, and satellite tasking.
- Help optimise automation and data workflows for greater performance and efficiency.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving existing services, enhancing reliability and scalability.
- Learn best practices in Go/Python, cloud-native development, and Dev Ops.
- Collaborate in agile sprints and code reviews, growing your technical and teamwork skills.
What You’ll bring
- Experience or strong interest in backend software development (Go, Python, or similar).
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals and cloud-based architectures.
- Curiosity about space systems and satellite operations.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with an eagerness to learn.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
This role you can be based in any of our locations: UK | Spain | Portugal | Greece | Argentina
To apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location.
When applying, please submit your CV in English
