GMT Electrician Life Safety

Ohio Wesleyan University is seeking a dynamic, skilled electrician for a full‑time, hourly position located in Hilliard, OH.

• Install, test, and service electrical light and power distribution circuits, equipment, appliances, fire alarm systems, and related electrical services.
• Test and maintain life‑safety systems, including fire alarm systems, egress lighting, fire extinguishers, elevator emergency phones, and other code‑required equipment.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed.
• Work independently or under guidance from oral or written instructions.
• Interpret and use blueprints and sketches.
• Assume emergency call‑in rotation schedule.
• Work in all university facilities, including confined spaces, potential exposure to chemicals/gases, electrical shock, and at heights up to 35 feet.

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least seven years of commercial/industrial electrical experience or completion of a four‑year apprenticeship.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards:
  National Electrical Code, NFPA 70 & 72, OSHA requirements, and related safe practices.
• Ability to lift and handle typical trade weights and work at heights up to 35 feet.
• Excellent communication skills and team collaboration.
• Near visual acuity and proficiency interpreting technical literature, blueprints, drawings, and manufacturer instructions.
• Knowledge of life‑safety systems, fire alarms, emergency backup systems, and applicable codes.

• Thorough knowledge of electrical trade methods, tools, and practices.
• Awareness of hazards and safety precautions specific to the trade.
• Good communication and teamwork ability.
• Strong technical reading ability.
