Mechatronics Engineer

As a  Mechatronic Machine Learning Engineer  at ALTEN Nederland, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement  opto-mechatronic prototypes and AI-driven systems  for the Dutch manufacturing industry. Your focus will be on:

Integrating digital design with AI-driven manufacturing

You’ll complement optical and mechanical designs with expertise in  sensors, actuators, robot vision, and machine learning , often working in a lab to design, build, and test systems.

Additionally, you’ll drive  unit-wide AI initiatives , including:

Creating an overview of all AI projects

Building a  knowledge-sharing community  within the unit

Acting as a bridge between  AI researchers, program leaders, and stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement  opto-mechatronic systems  for production automation

Apply  machine learning, robot vision, and 3D visualization  in industrial settings

Work with  ROS, control systems, task handling, and event-driven programming

Collaborate in  cross-functional teams  on multiple projects

Lead  AI and machine learning initiatives  within the unit

Facilitate  knowledge exchange  between researchers and stakeholders

Your Profile
Education & Experience

MSc in  Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field

Hands-on experience with  Machine Learning, (3D) Robot Vision, visualization, and robotics

Proficiency in  Python, C/C++, PyTorch, Tensor Flow, and ROS

Strong affinity for  industrial production and automation

Entrepreneurial, flexible, and excellent communication skills

Fluent in  Dutch  and  English  (written and verbal)
