Senior Systems Engineer

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will work with modern technologies to enhance the Internal Development Platform for Seequent, with special emphasis on Developer Experience. You will design and implement secure and cost-efficient cloud and on-prem infrastructure solutions to achieve successful business outcomes for Seequent. Your responsibilities will include providing automated and secure access to key systems and services. You will also be a mentor to junior members of the team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Systems Knowledge and Expertise

Deep expertise in multiple areas of products and services that the Systems Engineering team provides to internal customers such as Development and Production Infrastructure Engineering.

Identify and implement solutions to improve and refine Systems Engineering infrastructure and services.

The ability to pick up and see to completion any critical team project related to deploying, patching, or migrating key systems and services.

Advise on and help implement best infrastructure/service automation, observability, and security practices across teams.

Proactively identify issues with technical dependencies of a project that are owned by other teams and surface them.

Extend and maintain documentation on critical systems and processes.

User Engagement and Teamwork

Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and gather feedback on products/services; identify pain points and clarify ambiguity in their ideas.

Work closely with Development Platform Engineers to design solutions for on-prem and cloud infrastructure.

Design and implement automated solutions for onboarding, offboarding, and permissions management.

Promote a culture of providing quality and timely service for engineering teams.

Champion and promote tools that enhance Developer Experience (Dev Ex).

Build relationships across teams and help achieve positive outcomes.

Participate in or lead technical discussions across multiple teams.

Support the Lead in the advancement of team goals.

Help organize and lead team projects through trackable epics and tickets.

Technical Leadership

Mentor and coach junior members of the team, guiding them through technical challenges with compassion and patience.

Advise engineering on best practices and approaches to solving infrastructure and systems related problems.

Provide technical leadership that helps guide the team when making key decisions on cloud tooling.

Cultivate a "shift-left" security approach both within your work and across the team.

Develop an expertise in multiple areas of services that the team provides to internal customers like Development pods.

Promote a culture of automation over manual solutions.

Participate in technical interviews during recruitment.

Project Management

Define, document and execute small projects or sub-projects.

Work independently or with a small team, actively participating in all project phases.

Apply appropriate project management methods and tools.

Identify, assess, and manage risks effectively.

Prepare realistic project plans (including scope, schedule, quality, risk and communication plans), ensuring stakeholder involvement and alignment with organisational governance standards.

Track activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.

Monitor costs, times, quality, and resources and act when these deviate from acceptable standards.
