Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement & Data Cloud Architect to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable, data-driven customer engagement solutions. This role combines deep hands-on expertise with strategic advisory capability, enabling organizations to activate unified customer data across channels while aligning technology decisions with business objectives. This is a senior consulting role requiring strong ownership, proactive problem-solving, and confident stakeholder engagement-not a ticket-based execution role.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
- Lead the end-to-end architecture and implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement and Salesforce Data Cloud solutions
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance customer engagement architectures
- Define customer data models, identity resolution strategies, and activation frameworks
- Ensure alignment with Salesforce best practices, security standards, and governance models
Data Strategy & Activation
- Own the customer data strategy, including ingestion, unification, segmentation, and activation
- Design and manage Data Streams and data ingestion pipelines from external systems
- Enable advanced audience segmentation and real-time activation across channels
Journey & Channel Enablement
- Architect and optimize cross-channel customer journeys (Email, Mobile, Personalization)
- Enable real-time personalization using Interaction Studio (Personalization)
- Oversee mobile engagement strategies using Mobile Studio (SMS, Push Notifications)
Integration & APIs
- Design and guide API-based integrations using REST, SOAP, and GraphQL
- Support and review API testing and documentation using Postman and Swagger
- Ensure reliable data synchronization between Salesforce and external platforms
Leadership, Governance & Advisory
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to business and technical stakeholders
- Provide delivery oversight, technical leadership, and architectural governance
- Proactively identify risks, optimization opportunities, and improvement areas
- Mentor junior team members and enforce engineering best practices

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement (Essential)
- Mobile Studio - SMS and Push Notifications (ESSENTIAL)
- Interaction Studio (Personalization) – Real-time interaction management (ESSENTIAL)
- Contact Builder & Data Modeling – Data architecture and segmentation strategy
- Email Studio - Email creation, delivery, tracking, and reporting
- Journey Builder – Complex automated journeys and custom activities
- Automation Studio – Scheduled and triggered automations
- Cloud Pages – Landing pages and data capture solutions
- Content Builder – Centralized content management
- Data Extensions & Subscriber Management
- Security & Permissions – User roles, access control, and compliance
Salesforce Data Cloud (Essential)
- Customer Data Platform (CDP) concepts and implementation
- Data unification, identity resolution, and activation strategies
- Advanced segmentation using unified customer data
- Data Streams and external data ingestion
Scripting & Development (Should Know at This Level)
- SSJS (Server-Side JavaScript) – Backend logic and automation
- AMPscript – Personalization for emails, landing pages, and messaging
APIs & Integration (Should Know at This Level)
- SOAP API – SFMC data and automation use cases
- REST API – Journey execution, data updates, and integrations
- Graph
QL – Querying structured and unified data
- Postman – API testing, authentication, and simulations
- Swagger & API Mockups – API documentation and testing
Soft Skills & Leadership (Essential)
- Proven consulting experience with a proactive, advisory mindset
- Senior-level ownership and decision-making capability
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to operate independently and guide clients without constant direction
- Comfortable influencing both technical and non-technical audiences
