Data Engineer

We are looking for a talented  Data Engineer  with  5–7 years of hands-on experience  in building and supporting modern data warehousing and BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Azure data services, Power BI, and SQL, along with the ability to design scalable data platforms and support enterprise analytics needs. This role requires both technical expertise and solid business understanding to ensure data solutions effectively support organisational objectives.

Please note this role is offered as a 12-month extendable contract. You must also be available in a maximum of 30 days. The role is to be worked fully remotely.

Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Warehousing
Design, implement, and support  data warehousing solutions , including data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and integrated data layers.
Develop, manage, and optimise  data pipelines  using Azure services such as  Synapse Analytics, Synapse Pipelines, Azure Data Factory (ADF),  and  SSIS .
Build scalable and secure data platforms to support  enterprise-wide BI and analytics  initiatives.
Business Intelligence Development
Implement and maintain  BI solutions , with a strong focus on Power BI.
Design, develop, and publish  interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualisations  using Power BI to support stakeholder insights.
Conduct  user training sessions  to promote adoption and effective use of BI tools across the organisation.
Data Analysis & SQL Development
Write, optimise, and maintain  advanced SQL queries  for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and quality assurance.
Collaborate with business teams to translate requirements into technical data solutions aligned with business goals.
Customer 360 & Data Integration
Support the development and maintenance of a  centralised Customer 360° view , providing unified insight across multiple systems.
Integrate diverse datasets and ensure high levels of data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement
Apply strong understanding of business processes, design principles, and database structures to deliver robust and maintainable data solutions.
Proactively identify opportunities for  new BI/DWH initiatives , recommending enhancements to improve data capabilities and business value.
Ensure data solutions are delivered  on time, within scope, and within budget , following established standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
5–7 years  of hands-on experience in data engineering and data warehousing.
Strong experience in  Power BI , including dashboard/report design and performance optimisation.
Solid understanding of  business processes, software engineering principles, and database architecture .
Demonstrated ability to align technical data solutions with broader  business objectives .
Expertise with  Azure data services , including:
Azure Synapse Analytics
Synapse Pipelines
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
SSIS
Advanced proficiency in  SQL  for querying, data transformation, and performance tuning.
Experience building and maintaining  scalable data platforms .
Experience supporting  Customer 360° data models .
Proven ability to  deliver BI/data projects successfully  across timeline, budget, and scope.
