Arabic Linguistic & QA Specialist
Location:
Noida
Shift Timings: US Shifts
Position Type: Full Time
Goal of Position:
To safeguard the quality, consistency, and accuracy of Arabic localization for healthcare and other regulated documentation by combining native Arabic linguistic expertise with process-driven quality assurance. This role both produces and validates high-quality target content; translating, editing, and post-editing Arabic material while performing linguistic and technical QA, with particular attention to right-to-left (RTL) formatting integrity, Modern Standard Arabic accuracy, and cultural appropriateness, all while maintaining efficiency in high-volume, time-sensitive environments.
Duties:
Translation & Linguistic
Become familiar with healthcare and domain terminology relevant to the materials being localized, and use CAT tools (e.g., memoQ) wherever applicable to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Translate, edit, and post-edit to improve the quality of both human and machine-translated Arabic content, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, semantics, style, and punctuation. Offer terminology suggestions to the PM team where appropriate.
Proofread content by revising the target text and referencing the source text as necessary, choosing accuracy over style when uncertain.
Ensure consistency in terminology and style across large projects split among multiple team members or external linguists.
Arabic Linguistic QA (LQA)
Perform linguistic QA reviews on Arabic content, validating grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax; correct use of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) unless otherwise specified; and consistency with approved glossaries and terminology.
Validate terminology accuracy and consistency, especially for regulated domains such as healthcare and legal.
Ensure adherence to client-specific style guides, including tone, register, and formality.
Detect and correct common Arabic localization issues, including:
Incorrect diacritics (when applicable)
Inconsistent numeral usage (Arabic vs. Hindi numerals)
Gender and agreement errors
Regional variations where country-specific Arabic is required.
Verify cultural appropriateness and localization accuracy for the target audience, and flag nuanced issues for escalation to senior linguists or reviewers when needed.
Technical & Process QA
Execute non-linguistic QA checks, validating formatting, placeholders, tags, and layout, with special focus on RTL formatting integrity and bidirectional text behavior.
Ensure proper display and alignment of Arabic text across platforms (bidirectional text issues, punctuation placement, mirrored layouts).
Act as a gatekeeper for process and technical quality, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations before release.
Utilize QA tools, CAT tools, Microsoft Office, and Adobe applications for review and markup; make changes in the TM at the segment or memory level as instructed.
Troubleshoot independently to resolve technical or process issues and prevent project delays; proactively identify risks and recommend process improvements.
Skills/
Qualifications:
Required
Native Arabic speaker (the target language) with strong command of Modern Standard Arabic; professional fluency in English (written and spoken). In line with professional localization standards, the linguist must work into their native language — native Arabic is required, not near-native.
5–10 years’ experience as a translator, editor, reviewer, or other language-related role.
Bachelor’s degree required; certificate or degree focus in Translation strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience translating, editing, or reviewing content in regulated domains (healthcare a strong plus).
Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment for issue escalation, and effective prioritization under deadline pressure.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
Preferred
Hands-on Linguistic QA (LQA) experience: error categorization, severity scoring, and glossary/style-guide enforcement.
Familiarity with RTL formatting and bidirectional text handling, including RTL UI/UX issues across platforms.
Experience with QA and CAT tools (memoQ, Trados, Xbench, etc.) and Adobe applications.
Knowledge of regional Arabic variants (Gulf, Levant, Egyptian, etc.) and of additional languages.
Previous experience in healthcare or other regulated industries.
Work Schedule:
Availability to work US Eastern time hours to start. The schedule may shift westward (toward Pacific time) later based on business needs.
Weekend availability may be required depending on project needs
