Job Summary

The Packing Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, preventive maintenance, and breakdown management of Pick Fill Seal (Standee Pouch) machines and High-Speed Multi-Track Form Fill Seal (3-Side Seal / Pillow Pouch) machines.

The role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, minimizing production losses, maintaining food-grade compliance standards, and improving overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

Machine Expertise Required

1.
Pick Fill Seal Machine (Standee Pouch):

· Maintenance of pick-and-place mechanisms.

· Servo motor synchronization and tuning.

· Pouch opening system and gripper alignment.

· Filling nozzle calibration and accuracy verification.

· Sealing jaw temperature and pressure control.

· Zipper sealing system maintenance (if applicable).

· PID controller and thermocouple inspection.

2.
High-Speed Multi-Track FFS Machine (3-Side Seal / Pillow Pouch)

· Film tracking and web alignment

· Collar forming system adjustment

· Vertical and horizontal sealing system maintenance.

· Cutting, punching, and perforation mechanism servicing.

· Multi-track synchronization.

· Encoder, sensor, and photoelectric system calibration.

· Heater band and sealing bar inspection

Key Responsibilities

1.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

· Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) plans.

· Conduct condition-based inspections to prevent unexpected breakdowns.

· Inspect sealing jaws, heaters, PID controllers, thermocouples, and heating elements.

· Monitor and maintain servo drives, PLC systems, VFDs, and pneumatic assemblies.

· Maintain adequate spare parts inventory for critical components.

· Document maintenance activities and update maintenance logs.

2.
Breakdown Maintenance

· Attend and resolve machine breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.

· Troubleshoot issues related to:

· Film jamming

· Seal leakage

· Pouch misalignment

· Servo positioning errors.

· Pneumatic pressure fluctuations.

· Sensor failures and alarm triggers

· Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.

· Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

3.
Electrical & Automation Handling

· Basic PLC troubleshooting (Siemens / Delta / Mitsubishi – if applicable).

· Diagnose and resolve HMI alarms and communication faults.

· Maintain VFDs, servo drives, encoders, load cells, and photoelectric sensors.

· Calibrate filling systems and weighing mechanisms.

· Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and control schematics.

4.
Mechanical & Pneumatic Systems

· Maintain pneumatic cylinders, solenoid valves, FRL units, and air regulators.

· Repair and replace bearings, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, and cam systems.

· Maintain compressor lines and air pressure distribution systems.

· Ensure lubrication schedules are strictly followed.

5.
Production Coordination

· Coordinate with the production team during product and pouch changeovers.

· Support format changes (pouch size variations and SKU transitions).

· Reduce changeover time and improve line efficiency.

· Provide technical support during trial runs and new product launches.

6.
Safety & Quality Compliance

· Ensure proper temperature control for food-grade sealing.

· Maintain GMP, hygiene, and safety standards.

· Ensure guarding systems, emergency stops, and interlocks are functional.

· Participate in internal audits and compliance checks.

Required Qualifications

· ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

· 3–6 years of hands-on experience in FFS / Multi-track pouch packing machines.

· Experience in FMCG / Food / Pharma manufacturing preferred
