Safeguard Armor is scaling our international government tender division via an AI-powered tender engine, targeting 100+ global government tender submissions per month.
To support this volume, we require a Technical Apparel Developer to translate government uniform specifications into factory-ready instructions and deliver accurate first-pass samples within tight tender deadlines (4–8 weeks) .
We specalise in military and tactical clothing, police and uniform clothing.
This role sits directly inside our tender production pipeline, ensuring every apparel sample submitted with our bids meets the exact technical specifications required by government buyers.
You will not be designing products. But developing, sourcing, and managing the delivery of v1 samples for tenders.
You will execute technical interpretation and sample delivery at speed.
Key Responsibilities
Tender Specification Translation
Technical Spec Interpretation:
Review government tender documentation including measurement tables, construction drawings, and material specifications.
Construction Breakdown:
Convert tender requirements into clear garment construction instructions factories can execute immediately. Create effective tech packs where required
Technical Clarification:
Identify missing or conflicting requirements in tender documents and resolve them quickly before sampling begins.
2. Factory Sample Execution
Sample Development Coordination:
Manage overseas manufacturers to produce spec-accurate V1 tender samples within strict deadlines (4–8 weeks).
Factory Technical Communication:
Provide clear technical instructions to suppliers and resolve garment construction questions during development.
Timeline Control:
Ensure sample production stays on schedule across multiple simultaneous tenders.
3. Construction & Manufacturing Accuracy
Garment Construction Oversight:
Verify factories correctly interpret construction details such as seam types, reinforcements, closures, and pocket structures.
Measurement & Tolerance Control:
Ensure sample garments match tender measurement specifications and tolerances before submission.
Manufacturing Feasibility Checks:
Identify unrealistic requirements or production risks early to prevent delays or incorrect samples.
4. Materials & Component Verification
Fabric & Trim Identification:
Match tender-specified materials to appropriate fabrics, coatings, and trims available within global supply chains.
Component Compliance:
Ensure hardware, closures, and textile specifications meet tender requirements.
5. Sample Quality Assurance
Technical Sample Review:
Evaluate prototype samples against tender specifications before submission.
Specification Alignment:
Confirm garment construction, materials, and measurements fully match bid requirements.
Issue Resolution:
Work with factories to rapidly correct technical issues identified during development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong Garment Construction Knowledge
Deep understanding of seams, stitch classes, reinforcements, and garment assembly.
Technical Drawing Literacy
Able to read garment technical drawings, construction diagrams, and measurement charts.
Factory Development Experience
Experience coordinating apparel sample development with overseas manufacturers.
Specification & Measurement Management
Comfortable working with detailed measurement charts and technical garment specifications.
Manufacturing Process Awareness
Understanding of apparel sampling workflows, production constraints, and lead times.
Fabric & Trim Knowledge
Familiar with woven fabrics, coated textiles, hardware, and garment components used in uniforms or workwear.
Quality & Fit Verification Skills
Able to evaluate garments against specification tolerances and identify technical deviations.
Technical Documentation Handling
Capable of updating specifications, construction notes, and technical instructions during development.
Factory Communication
Strong written English communication with suppliers in Asia.
Industry Tools
Experience with Excel and Illustrator; familiarity with CLO3D or Browzwear is an advantage.
