OVERVIEW

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Project Coordinator - (Research)/Senior Researcher on a contractual basis.

Candidates possessing a minimum of 3 years or more of relevant experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Project Coordinator (Research). However, candidates shortlisted with less than 3 years of relevant experience will be considered for the position of Senior Researcher.

Although the position is in Delhi, the APC
- Research/Senior Researcher is expected to travel to various (3 states) both for research as well as project implementation and monitoring.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

The role of the Assistant Project Coordinator - (Research)/Senior Researcher involves coordinating both the research and operational components of the Internal Police Reforms Project. Working closely with the Project Director (PD), Project Coordinator (PC), and State Supervisors, the he/she will play a key role in project planning, research, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and documentation across three states (Punjab, Telangana & Tamil Nadu).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Educational

Qualification:

M.A in Social Sciences/Police Sciences/Criminology/Public Safety or any other related field. However, candidates with Ph.D. in relevant domains will be preferred.
- Researcher/Consultant with experience of 3 years or more in social research in universities, other research institutes, NGOs, think tanks, or consulting firms. (Minimum experience may be relaxed in exceptional cases at the discretion of the Project Director).
- Experience in Independent Research Study Design and leading/mentoring research team.
- Proficiency & experience in developing and conducting Baseline, Midline and Endline evaluation study.
- Proficiency in Research Tool Development for empirical data collection.
- Proficiency in mixed-data - quantitative and qualitative - analysis & and knowledge of quantitative data analysis software (advance excel, SPSS/STATA).
- Ability to understand and communicate the meaning of field-based data and writing research report.
- Strong management, coordination and leadership skills for engagement with senior police officers, trainers, research staff and other research institutions.
- High level of proficiency in computer skills.
- Willingness and good health to undertake field visits (as and when required).
- Good command over English and Hindi.
- Attend the IPF office at Vasant Kunj, Delhi, on a regular basis.

DESIRABLE

- Previous experience of working with Police organisations.
- Familiarity with criminal laws (major & minor).
- Familiarity with relevant Supreme Court judgments & NHRC directives.
- Familiarity with MHA and State Government circulars related to citizen centric policing.
- Familiarity with recommendations of various police commissions, including the National Police Commission (1979-81), related to citizen centric policing.
- Publications of Research papers/articles in various journals/magazines/Newspapers.
