Business Development Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive retail expansion and growth for the international offline brand stores owned and operated by Robust Kommerce in India. The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in identifying and securing strategic retail locations across key markets, enabling the expansion of leading international brands such as MANGO, NAUTICA, and NEXT. This role will be responsible for developing strong relationships with mall developers, real estate partners, and retail landlords to identify high-potential store locations aligned with brand positioning and commercial objectives.
The role requires strong market knowledge, negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the company’s retail expansion strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Expansion Strategy
● Develop and execute a retail expansion strategy aligned with the growth plans of international brands operated by Robust Kommerce.
● Identify and evaluate potential retail locations across malls, high streets, and premium retail destinations.
● Conduct market research and feasibility analysis to identify high-potential cities and micro-markets for store expansion.
Retail Space Acquisition
● Build and maintain relationships with mall developers, retail landlords, and real estate consultants to identify suitable store locations.
● Lead negotiations with developers and landlords for lease agreements and commercial terms.
● Evaluate store locations based on footfall, brand positioning, catchment potential, and commercial viability.
Market Intelligence & Site Evaluation
● Track retail real estate trends, mall developments, and emerging high-street retail markets.
● Conduct site visits, competitor benchmarking, and location analysis to support decision-making.
● Prepare site evaluation reports, financial projections, and business cases for leadership review.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
● Develop strong relationships with real estate partners, mall management teams, and retail consultants.
● Act as the primary point of contact for retail expansion opportunities and partnerships.
● Represent Robust Kommerce in industry forums, real estate events, and networking opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Work closely with brand teams, retail operations, finance, and design teams to align store expansion with business goals.
● Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth store onboarding, fit-out planning, and launch timelines.
● Support leadership in planning long-term retail expansion roadmaps.
Reporting & Documentation
● Maintain detailed records of site opportunities, negotiations, and deal progress.
● Track expansion pipelines and provide periodic updates to leadership.
● Ensure compliance with internal approval processes and documentation requirements.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
● MBA / Postgraduate degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Marketing, or a related field.
● 10+ years of experience in business development, retail expansion, leasing, or retail real estate roles.
● Experience working with retail brands, mall developers, or real estate consulting firms is preferred.
● Strong understanding of retail real estate markets, mall ecosystems, and high-street retail formats.
● Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate location feasibility and commercial viability.
● Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
