WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting comprehensive GMP estimates for large-scale construction projects. Your role will involve working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure accuracy and feasibility of estimates, while also ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines. You will utilize Procore to manage, track, and communicate estimates and project details.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive GMP estimates for commercial and residential construction projects, ensuring all labor, materials, and other direct costs are accounted for.
  • Use historical data and industry benchmarks to inform estimates, providing clients with realistic, achievable budget projections.
  • Review and evaluate project blueprints, specifications, and drawings to ensure comprehensive and accurate estimates.
Collaborate with Project Management Team
  • Work in tandem with project managers to review the full scope of the project, including project timelines, material specifications, and unique project requirements.
  • Ensure that estimates align with project scope and meet client expectations, and adjust based on changing project requirements or unforeseen challenges.
  • Provide project managers with cost forecasts, aiding in the creation of project budgets that are both realistic and manageable.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination
  • Engage with vendors and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing, track subcontractor performance, and negotiate terms and pricing for optimal project cost efficiency.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of preferred vendors and subcontractors, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality materials and services.
  • Analyze subcontractor bids to ensure they align with project scope and budget, and assist in final contractor selection when necessary.
  • Leverage Procore for seamless integration of project data, ensuring real-time updates on estimating, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Train and support other team members on effective use of Procore to maintain consistency and accuracy across all estimates and project-related tasks.
  • Use Procore to generate detailed cost breakdowns, track expenditures, and manage project timelines effectively.
Project Estimate Evaluation and Adjustments
  • Review project estimates regularly to track accuracy, especially as construction progresses, and make adjustments to avoid exceeding budgets.
  • Work with the project management team to identify potential issues early in the estimating phase and recommend proactive adjustments to prevent cost overruns.
  • Track variances and discrepancies, ensuring the project remains aligned with the initial estimate and adjusting accordingly.
Industry Trends and Data Monitoring
  • Stay updated on industry trends, local and regional market conditions, and new technologies that impact material costs, labor rates, and construction practices.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and business practices to ensure Hatcher Construction remains competitive in the market, offering accurate pricing that aligns with current trends.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to incorporate new cost-saving technologies or materials that could improve project profitability.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Communicate project cost, scope, and progress to clients, project managers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and maintaining a high level of trust.
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports, budgets, and forecasts to clients and senior management, addressing any concerns or changes in project direction.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for cost-related inquiries, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned on financial matters.
