A 40 year old Delray custom home builder and landscaping company is looking for a point person in the accounting department. Projects range from new, custom-built residences to sophisticated remodels, all executed with a meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to excellence. We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Permanent Controller/Accountant to join our dynamic team in the Construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and accounting duties of the company. This includes handling invoices, preparing and managing budgets, financial reporting, and ensuring financial compliance. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong emphasis on the construction industry.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing finances in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will be instrumental in the financial success of our company.

• Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
• Handle invoices and oversee the preparation and management of budgets.
• Monitor the financial performance of the company and report any discrepancies to the management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with creating financial statements and managing budgets.
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
• Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to developing team members.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
• Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
