Prep Cook

The Prep Cook works under the leadership of the restaurant’s executive chef, performing routine tasks that enable line cooks to prepare meals. Responsibilities include chopping vegetables, breaking down stations, cutting meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, storing food, and more.

• Follow clear directions in food preparation and storage
• Clearly label and date all prepped items, especially those stored for later use
• Ensure all food is properly prepared for use by line cooks

• Strong listening skills to understand specific directions for food prep
• Proficient in English to execute recipes
• Clear communication with coworkers
• Basic math and written communication skills

• Use manual dexterity to cut/chop food
• Stand throughout the scheduled shift
• Endure hot/cold conditions while preparing food

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• 2‑ or 4‑year culinary degree preferred, but not required
• Minimum 1–2 years experience in food service/hospitality
• Food handler's card may be required per local/state regulations
