General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
Area Supervisors are also responsible for executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed.
- Recognize safety as the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure security of the building including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) device checks, Cash Office security, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
- Remove clutter and maintain safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Treat customer safety as a top priority, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize associates using Company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Company Dress Code and ensure all associates adhere to it.
- Keep all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Handle receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies, special deliveries).
- Keep stockrooms clean and organized.
- Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
- Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed according to Company policy.
- Responsible for merchandising of the department, including back‑stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
- Handle floor moves and signage, including promotional signage.
- Perform re‑wraps as needed.
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and be responsible for Store Loss Prevention.
