Position

Summary

The Electrical-Mechanic Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and/or mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. This role ensures that all electrical and mechanical components are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Repair
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and execute repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Replace or repair defective components such as motors, sensors, switches, circuit boards, welding, or fabrication.
  • Repair machinery and facilities.
  • Install new electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures according to job specifications and local codes.
  • Assist in the layout and installation of electrical wiring, conduit, welding, and equipment.
  • Install and test new equipment.
Troubleshooting
  • Use electrical testing equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to identify faults.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with electrical systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities (work orders), including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures, including wearing necessary PPE.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and production staff to ensure seamless operation of equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices and less experienced technicians.
  • Identify opportunities for improving equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures, including below 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands for simple firm grasping and writing.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying 5 to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally using cutting utensils (e.g., knives, peelers).
  • Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers, etc.
  • Exposure to temperatures of 45 degrees or less.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine.
  • Works overtime as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as an Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial setting.
