Senior Accountant

Westshore Terminals is looking for a full time, permanent Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Delta, BC.

As Senior Accountant, you will be an integral member of the finance team that is responsible for the overall integrity and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. This includes preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, preparing journal entries and assisting with financial reporting and disclosures. You will also play a role in overseeing inventory and supply purchasing, along with payment processing.

You will contribute to compliance activities by preparing and filing government remittances. In addition, you will provide assistance during the quarterly and annual external review and audit engagements.

Success in this role means effectively prioritizing responsibilities throughout the monthly accounting cycle, and maintaining attention to detail throughout both operational and analytical tasks. This role spans multiple areas of finance, and priorities may shift throughout the month.

This position is a hybrid one with the ability to work remotely for up to 2-days per week.

• Monthly, quarterly and annual close, including account reconciliations
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
• Prepare and file monthly and quarterly government remittances
• Assist with quarterly financial statement reviews and annual financial statement audits
• Other duties as assigned

• CPA designation or near completion of the CPA program
• 5-8 years of accounting experience in a similar role
• Versatile and detail-oriented finance professional
• Able to think critically, manage priorities and communicate clearly
• Able to work independently and under supervision
• Able to foster and manage working relationships with personnel company-wide
• High level of integrity and accountability
• Knowledge of payroll legislation would be an asset
