Our civil contractor client is urgently seeking a Civil Foreman to lead field crews on major infrastructure and utilities projects in the Lower Mainland, including work tied to transit infrastructure (Sky Train‑related packages), sewer and water utilities, earthworks, and ground improvement scopes
.
This role is hands‑on and field‑focused, responsible for supervising crews, driving production, and ensuring safe, high‑quality execution in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project schedules. The Foreman will work closely with a Senior Superintendent and project leadership team to deliver complex civil works efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities- Supervise daily field operations for crews and subcontractors
- Allocate labour, equipment, and materials to meet production targets
- Run daily pre‑works briefings and enforce strict safety compliance (zero‑harm culture)
- Interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and layout information (including 3D models where applicable)
- Coordinate sequencing and short‑term planning with Project Manager / Superintendent
- Identify and resolve field issues quickly; expedite escalation when required
- Track daily production, quantities, and maintain accurate as‑builts
- Support quality control and ensure work meets design/spec requirements
- Operate or assist with equipment when required (hands‑on leadership role)
- 5+ years’ experience as a Civil Foreman / Lead Hand / Field Supervisor
- Proven experience on large civil infrastructure projects
- Strong background in earthworks, utilities (sewer/water), grading, or heavy civil construction
- Experience working closely with a Senior Superintendent or project leadership team
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills in the field
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and site compliance standards
- CSTS, First Aid, or equivalent safety certifications
- Experience with transit, roadworks, or utility corridor projects
- Exposure to GPS grading systems or 3D modelling tools
- Heavy equipment operation experience
- Minimum 5 years in civil construction (field‑based)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with clean record
- Strong track record of reliable, production‑driven field leadership
- Crews are productive, organized, and clear on daily targets
- Work is delivered safely, on time, and to spec
- Minimal rework due to strong attention to plans and layout
- Clear communication with superintendent and project team
- Issues are resolved in the field quickly and effectively
