Southpointe is seeking an energetic, outgoing and collaborative teacher who will develop and implement authentic STEM learning experiences that connect with transdisciplinary PYP themes and the Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) curriculum.
Reporting to the Junior School Principal or designate, the Junior School PYP STEM Teacher position will commence on August 27, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Use technology and digital tools such as coding platforms, robotics kits, VR/AR applications, and maker-space materials to deepen inquiry and enhance creativity. Guide students in exploring how emerging technologies shape the world around them.

Inquiry and Student Agency

Foster a classroom culture where curiosity drives learning. Encourage students to ask questions, lead investigations, and apply critical thinking as they explore authentic STEM challenges.

Design Thinking and Engineering Projects

Facilitate hands-on projects emphasizing empathy, creativity, prototyping, iteration, and reflection, helping students engage deeply with real-world problems and solutions.

Collaboration and Integration

Partner with classroom teachers to design and integrate STEM concepts into PYP units of inquiry, highlighting connections to global contexts, sustainability, and future-focused skills. Invite community experts as guest speakers to support learning.

Plan and lead an annual STEM Week featuring school-wide challenges, maker activities, and cross-grade design projects that celebrate innovation and collaboration across all grade levels.

Assessment and Reflection

Design and implement ongoing formative and summative assessments for all students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 to measure progress across key STEM and ADST learning outcomes. Use a range of digital tools to collect evidence of learning, track student growth over time, and document achievement. Provide individualized feedback and progress reports that clearly communicate each student’s strengths, areas for development, and next steps.

Prepare detailed, personalized report card comments and share learning growth with parents through conferences and digital portfolios.

Resource and Space Management

Maintain safe, inclusive, and engaging learning spaces that inspire exploration and creativity. Oversee and manage resources across two dedicated STEM studios—one designed for early learners (Kindergarten–Grade
2) and another for upper elementary students (Grades 3–5)—ensuring each environment is appropriately equipped, age-appropriate, and aligned with program goals. Use digital inventory tools to track materials, maintain equipment, and support efficient organization and accessibility for students and teachers.
