Working alongside the Program Coordinator, the Summer Youth Lead will facilitate various outdoor and educational initiatives during the July-August program. Responsibilities include organizing land-based tours, developing project initiatives, and enhancing youth understanding of trails and culture. This role fosters collaboration with Elders and helps youth discover career pathways related to stewardship and recreation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize art or signage projects on Sməq̓ʷaʔ xeł
• Lead educational field trips with Indigenous Elders
• Host speakers on trails and Indigenous culture
• Assist youth in identifying career opportunities
• Discuss barriers youth face in accessing trails
Requirements:
• Live in or near Metro Vancouver
• Valid Class 5 driver's license
• Experience instructing youth aged 13-19
• Strong communication and project management skills
• Knowledge of local trails and Indigenous knowledge
Drive youth engagement and cultural education this summer as a leader with the Tsawwassen First Nation program.
