Position: Youth Leadership Role for Sməq̓ʷaʔ xeł Summer Program
Tsawwassen First Nation seeks a Summer Youth Lead to inspire youth through cultural engagement along the Sməq̓ʷaʔ xeł trails. This role combines leadership with outdoor education during July and August.

This contracted position involves direct collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Elder xʷasteniya. You will coordinate trail-related projects, facilitate educational tours, and help youth explore job options connected to Indigenous culture. Participants will engage with community partners and contribute to the vision of accessible trails for active transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate artistic projects or signage along trails

• Lead land-based tours with youth and Elders

• Invite guest speakers to discuss Indigenous issues

• Support youth in delving into career avenues

• Engage with youth about trail accessibility challenges

Requirements:

• Reside in Metro Vancouver, ideally near Tsawwassen

• A Class 5 driver’s license essential

• Background in working with youth ages 13 to 19

• Strong listening and communication abilities

• Familiarity with Indigenous culture and local landscapes
