Weyerhaeuser’s Parallam® manufacturing plant on Annacis Island is seeking a Process Control Specialist (PCS) to strengthen plant safety, reliability, and operational performance. Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, this role provides hands‑on technical expertise in process control, instrumentation, and operational technology (OT).

This is a full-time, salaried day‑shift role with flexibility to support unplanned events.

Key Functions

Automation & Process Control

  • Maintain and improve the plant’s automation systems (AB Control Logix PLCs and VFDs, coordinated drive systems, motion control equipment, Wonderware HMI, etc.).
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and drive applications, including PID loop tuning and multi‑system control interactions across the mill.
  • Integrate vendor equipment into the mill process control system.

Instrumentation, Electronics & Microelectronics

  • Design and verify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
  • Diagnose failures in sensors, instruments, actuators, and electronic components, including board‑level troubleshooting where appropriate.
  • Maintain site standards for instrumentation, control hardware, and electronic components.

Operational Technology (OT) & Network Infrastructure

  • Support plant OT systems including Ethernet/IP networks, industrial PCs, servers, and auxiliary communication hardware.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, configurations, and system practices aligned with reliability and cybersecurity requirements.

Cross‑Functional Technical Support

  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams on improvement projects, scope development, and system design.
  • Collaborate with corporate IT, OT, AI teams to develop solutions.
  • Communicate with other WY manufacturing sites regarding methods, equipment, solutions and opportunities.
  • Provide training and mentorship in PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and electronics to maintenance personnel.

Required Skills
  • Deep PLC programming/troubleshooting skills (Control Logix, RS Logix).
  • Experience developing HMI systems (Wonderware, Rockwell).
  • Electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting expertise.
  • Electronic and microelectronic diagnostic ability (modules, boards, components).
  • Hands‑on experience with VFDs, coordinated drives, sensors, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Skilled with electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience reading and designing electrical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, etc.
  • OT fundamentals (LAN/Ethernet infrastructure, Modbus, DH+, industrial PCs, servers).
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office, CAD tools, MATLAB is an asset).
  • Strong professional communication skills.
  • Solid organization and prioritization.
Preferred Skills
  • Electrical design and build work: control panels, safety circuits, MCCs, wiring/I/O.
  • Knowledge of automation safety platforms (e.g., Guard Logix).
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, and field devices.
  • SAP experience (maintenance/planning).
  • Broader OT experience (industrial IT, data systems, and plant server infrastructure).
  • Experience in mathematical modeling of technological processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Diploma in Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial process control, automation, or electrical systems within manufacturing.
  • Strong record of safe work practices and adherence to procedures.
Compensation

This role is eligible for our annual merit‑increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $92,100 - $134,300 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
