Role DescriptionThis is a hands‑on engineering role focused on system integration and commissioning. You will take an established system architecture and execute the integration of mechanical, gas handling, electrical, and control subsystems into a fully operational prototype platform.
The position is primarily based at the COAST Ocean Innovation Hub in Victoria, BC. On‑site presence is required.
This role is best suited for engineers with strong industrial build and commissioning experience who are comfortable operating in an early‑stage, fast‑moving technical environment.
Qualifications- Strong expertise in Systems Engineering and System Administration for managing and integrating modular systems effectively
- Proven experience in Troubleshooting and providing Technical Support to address and resolve system issues
- Proficiency in Testing and validation processes to ensure optimal system functionality and performance
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Hands‑on experience in clean energy systems or hydrogen technology is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is strongly preferred
- Finalize system‑level integration schematics and P&IDs
- Integrate hydrogen production and balance‑of‑plant components
- Lead mechanical assembly of a skid‑based modular system
- Implement and commission pressure, flow, and safety systems
- Integrate sensors and industrial control systems (PLC or equivalent)
- Conduct commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation testing
- Document system performance and validation outcomes
- Support development of safety and risk documentation
- 3–10+ years of hands‑on industrial systems integration experience
- Experience working with pressurized gas or fluid systems
- Skid‑based or modular system assembly experience
- Electrical panel wiring and control system commissioning
- Field commissioning and troubleshooting of integrated systems
Formal degree is secondary to demonstrated industrial build and commissioning experience.
Preferred Experience- Hydrogen or alternative energy systems
- Industrial safety standards familiarity
- Participation in HAZOP, FMEA, or structured risk assessments
- Experience working in prototype or pilot‑scale environments
- Strong builder mindset with practical execution capability
- Independent operator able to take ownership of integration tasks
- Structured documentation discipline
- Calm and methodical during commissioning challenges
- High technical accountability
- Fully integrated and commissioned prototype system
- Validated system performance data
- Technical documentation and safety dossier
- Deployment‑readiness assessment package
