What You Will Do
- Lead the profitable execution of assigned Fire Installation projects in transportation, commercial, and public sector portfolios.
- Bridge the gap between engineering consultants, technical design, and field installation, using hands‑on problem solving and strong communication skills.
- Provide input to Sales and Operations Leadership early in the project development process, including strategy, vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment.
- Direct project execution teams—Engineers, Designers, Technicians, Project Coordinators, Estimators, and subcontractors—to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, billed appropriately, and within budget and scope.
- Maintain positive cash flow by actively pursuing change orders, managing project-related accounts payable, billing, and collections.
- Follow repeatable project management procedures while balancing customer satisfaction and project financial results.
- Ensure all resources adhere to site and JCI safety policies.
- Manage project scope, costs, resources, and risks to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Act as the primary on‑site leader for assigned projects.
- Develop the Project Execution Plan, including WBS, Organizational Chart, Safety Plan, Schedules, Issue/Risk Logs, and Staffing Requirements.
- Evaluate contractual scope, assess client‑issued changes, and pursue change orders and additional opportunities.
- Prepare cost estimates, proposals, and negotiate final settlement pricing with customer acceptance.
- Handle project accounts payable, billing, and collections in coordination with the Project Coordinator.
- Interpret contract terms and conditions to ensure work meets customer satisfaction and JCI standards.
- Analyze financial reports and project schedules to proactively address potential issues.
- Communicate progress, issues, and financial status to management as required.
- Manage risks, establish recovery plans, and resolve disputes with minimal escalation.
- Prepare RFPs, negotiate, and issue subcontracts, while ensuring document controls meet contract and JCI standards.
- Oversee construction compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques.
- Control selection, ordering, and delivery of project materials.
- Maintain strong, long‑term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
- Attend job progress meetings and coordinate resource allocation with the Installation/Operations Manager or Senior Project Manager.
- Ensure field engineering and commissioning align with established standards, escalating product‑related issues.
- Assist in project development efforts and provide performance feedback to Engineers, Designers, and Operations Management.
- Perform installation‑to‑service turnover at project close.
- Project management and direct field experience in construction, utility, transportation, or telecom industries.
- Degree in Engineering or diploma in Building Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Understanding of architectural design, engineering practices, construction documentation, and applicable municipal regulations.
- Ability to communicate technical material effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences, verbally and in written form.
- Willingness to travel based on project assignments and business needs.
- Experience with MS Project, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.
- Valid driver’s license for the Province of British Columbia with satisfactory driving record.
- A strong sense of safety and adherence to JCI safety policies.
- Hourly rate range: $35–$48 (rate determined by experience and market data).
