Position: EIT Engineer (Technical Development Program)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to join our dynamic team in an electrical manufacturing environment. This position offers diverse job rotation opportunities across multiple departments, providing exposure to various aspects of the business, including engineering, sales, estimation, project management, quality, production, service, and automation. The role is ideal for candidates passionate about developing technical and leadership skills in a company specializing in custom switch gear and power control room solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering and Design: Assist in designing and reviewing electrical systems, switch gear, motor control centers, and powerhouses; collaborate with senior engineers to develop innovative and cost‑effective solutions; perform calculations, simulations, and system analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Sales and Estimation: Support the sales team in preparing technical proposals and cost estimates; analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate product solutions; participate in client meetings and presentations to gain insights into market needs.
  • Project Management: Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating projects from inception to completion; monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and propose solutions; ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while meeting quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support the company’s Quality Management System; perform factory inspections in accordance with standard test procedures; support customer Factory Acceptance Tests and discrepancy closeout processes.
  • Production: Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflows and adherence to safety protocols; gain hands‑on experience with assembly, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Service and Automation: Perform field inspections and customer site visits; support service teams in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues; assist in designing and reviewing custom switch gear solutions and automation products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Eligible or registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with a provincial engineering association.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other design software is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEC, NEC).
  • Willingness to learn and rotate across departments.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full‑time basis for any employer.
