Join Seaspan Marine as a 2nd Engineer, where you will be integral to the operation and maintenance of our vessels’ engineering systems. This role emphasizes hands-on technical expertise and effective safety management.
In this 2nd Engineer position, you will be in charge of the engineering watch, ensuring all machinery is operational and ready. You will also conduct routine maintenance, coordinate with port engineers, and manage hazardous risk assessments with your crew. The role demands a clear understanding of safety protocols and mentorship practices for junior engineers to uphold high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the engineering watch and perform routine maintenance
• Oversee troubleshooting and repairs on all machinery
• Facilitate coordination with external contractors for repairs
• Conduct hazard assessments prior to starting work
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
Requirements:
• Valid 2nd Class Transport Canada Marine Motor certificate
• At least 5 years of onboard engineering officer experience
• Strong understanding of safety equipment and regulations
• Solid knowledge of marine terminology and operations
• Team-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
