Occupational Health and Safety Manager - British Columbia (full time)

This position requires collaboration with employees and supervisors to identify and correct potential safety and health hazards and to provide compliance assurance and assistance.

The successful candidate will work well with little supervision and must apply advanced occupational health and safety knowledge to all areas which may include fleet safety, personnel safety, process safety, equipment safety, industrial hygiene and product safety - in order to protect the health and safety of all company employees. The Occupational Health and Safety Manager also provides leadership, guidance and assistance in the prevention and control of all incidents.

Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with line managers to make sure they have the support needed to reach zero incidents and zero harm in safety and health goals
  • You’ll assist in putting safe and compliant standard work practices in place with the team and keep an eye on how well these are followed through safety inspections
  • Spotting chances to improve safety performance will be part of your role, and you’ll take proactive steps to make sure those improvements happen
  • Keeping up with local safety regulations and company policies to ensure everything stays compliant will be important
  • You’ll actively support site locations by training employees on what’s required and help them meet safety compliance with applicable regulations and company procedures
  • When incidents happen, you’ll report them, lead investigations, and help facilitate root cause analysis to prevent repeats
  • Performing industrial hygiene monitoring and communicating with regulatory inspectors when needed will be part of your responsibilities
  • You’ll assist during potentially hazardous work situations to keep everyone safe
  • Helping review and complete Management of Change processes will also be part of your tasks
  • Lastly, you’ll maintain the required status of online accounts related to third‑party contractor safety approvals like ISNetworld, PICS, and Comply Works
Qualifications
  • Bring 5 to 10 years of hands‑on experience in industrial occupational health and safety
  • Hold certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional or as a Certified Industrial Hygienist
  • Bilingual skills in French and English, both written and spoken, are a valuable asset
  • Be skilled in using Microsoft software applications along with other training materials software
  • Demonstrate strong project management abilities to keep initiatives on track
  • Have solid knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and related Canadian standards
  • Possess excellent training and presentation skills to effectively share knowledge
  • Show proven leadership skills to guide and inspire teams

This is an existing position with a starting salary of $100,000 per year.
