What you’ll be doing as a Laboratory Technician
Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that are received in the lab daily.
Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs.
Specialize in an assigned department.
What you’ll need to succeed- High School diploma or equivalent; a degree in a science-related field is preferred.
- Experience in laboratory testing (setting up, running, reading tests) and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, clinical diagnostic analyzers) is ideal.
- Background as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is an advantage.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, attention to detail, reliability and precision.
- Physical ability to stand and sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 lb, use phone and computer, extended reach, and meet vision requirements.
- Understand potential exposure to biohazards and hazardous chemicals.
- Hourly rate: $25.65/hr.
- Schedule:
Friday & Saturday, 8:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.;
Sunday, 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. (or up to 2:30 a.m.). - Shift variations may occur based on business needs.
- Reliable attendance is essential.
