Job Summary

The IT Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the Ontario Convention Center Information Technology environments to assure system integrity and availability. Under the supervision of the Director of IT, the IT Manager is expected to supervise, direct, plan, schedule and monitor all aspects of event support and direct user support. The IT Manager reports directly to the IT Director.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee Ontario Convention Center technologies and services, including user-related incidents and requests in a primarily Windows and Macintosh environment.
  • Support network, internet, and telephony systems by providing network, wireless access, and telephony needs as requested by business stakeholders.
  • Manage and deliver technical services for events held at Ontario Convention Center in addition to onsite support; work directly with tenants or affiliates on initiatives to establish new or emerging technology components.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for Ontario Convention Center to support technology systems, ensuring policies and best practices are followed in collaboration with the Director of IT and Legends Global IT group.
  • Manage and schedule full-time and part-time event support staff and third‑party vendors required to support Ontario Convention Center and business operations.
  • Handle employee onboarding, offboarding and changes, setting up equipment, software, and other IT support for new users and disposing of equipment for exiting users.
  • Oversee related contracted maintenance agreements and maintain relationships with network and helpdesk (MSP) vendors.
  • Develop bid specifications, renewal agreements, and manage related items to ensure quality performance levels.
  • Manage all cellular third parties under contract with the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) and coordinate with building facilities on physical access needs and service improvements.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives focused on venue technology and operations excellence to increase overall efficiency.
  • Maintain an inventory of technology systems for life‑cycle management and budgeting, establishing budgets that capture capex costs for technology investments.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in IT or Computer Science preferred; minimum education level required.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT helpdesk or equivalent escalation experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration.
  • Experience with cloud‑based phone systems.
  • Experience with wired and wireless networking engineering, troubleshooting, and design in multi‑venue, multi‑vendor environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving and learning ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical and Environmental Requirements

This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events. Employees must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours. Employees may be scheduled to work until 12:00 am or later. A valid background check is required. Employees should use precautions and follow safety guidelines.
