Overview
Our government client is looking to contract a Business Intelligence Analyst to join their team. This role focuses on developing a new dashboard to provide vital Human Capital Management (HCM) metrics, empowering the public sector and its departments to make well-informed, data-driven decisions.
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, the position will be responsible for creating a consolidated workforce dashboard that integrates key HCM data metrics to help Human Resources (HR) and management teams across the public sector make data-driven decisions for strategic workforce planning. This role will also involve producing technical and business documentation in support of the work, requiring close collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, gather feedback, and implement solutions aligned with strategic decisions.
Collaboration with team members will be key to implementing data visualization enhancements on existing dashboards.
- Design and build a new Power
BI workforce insights dashboard which consolidates HCM data metrics. Responsibilities will include project planning, stakeholder engagement, prototype design, testing, and release. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both internal and external, to ensure alignment with business objectives and data reporting requirements, including collaboration with both technical and non-technical resources.
- Capture and maintain documentation of business and technical information, ensuring transparency and traceability.
- Develop training materials and strategies to enable end-users to effectively use the new dashboard. Provide training to the internal team as needed.
- Identify and escalate issues and risks as appropriate, and work to resolve them to ensure smooth project progression.
- Manage tasks, action items, and timelines for the project. Follow up on outstanding items and escalate as needed.
- Effectively communicate findings, insights, and project progress to stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prepare presentations and demonstrations for engagement with stakeholders.
- Ensure data governance and data quality practices are adhered to in the creation and maintenance of the new dashboard.
- Ensure that data security and privacy guidelines are followed in all aspects of the work.
- A consolidated, user-friendly dashboard which provides key workforce metrics and aligns with existing dashboards.
- Technical and business documentation, including an updated data warehouse data and definitions catalogue.
- Dashboard user guides.
- Status reports - weekly and monthly.
Must Have
- The successful candidate must meet or exceed one of the following:
- University graduation in business, management or a related discipline and 2-year Business Analyst (BA) experience; OR
- 2-year diploma in business, management or a related discipline and 4-year BA experience; OR
- 1-year certificate in business, management or a related discipline and 5-year BA experience; OR
- 6-year BA experience
- 4 years of experience creating data visualizations, dashboards, and other information products for clients using BI/Analytics software, including SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Visual Investigator, MS Power BI, Tableau, Looker, R, Python.
- 5 years of experience in facilitating business workshops.
- 5 years of experience in gathering requirements from a diverse group of stakeholders across various departments.
- 4 years of experience with BI and advanced data analytics in an organization of a size comparable to the public sector.
- 4 years of experience with Power BI reporting and SQL Server Analysis Services/Integration Services/Reporting Services.
Nice to Have
- 5 years of direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis, solution architecture and design, and deployment related to data management, acquisition, preparation, quality and data lineage/provenance.
- 5 years of experience dealing with clients and explaining complex data principles in a thoughtful manner.
- 5 years of experience in building analytical and quantitative analysis models.
- 5 years of experience making decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues without formal guidelines or precedents.
- 2 years of experience using human capital data for workforce analytics and reporting.
- 3 years of experience working on enterprise applications used across a large organization.
6 months contract with a potential of another 12 months extension
