The City is seeking a qualified Facility Service Worker for a regular full-time position. The successful candidate will provide services at recreation and civic facilities throughout North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen.
This position performs a broad range of facility operations work, including building and equipment maintenance, janitorial services, refrigeration plant operation, swimming pool maintenance, and ice making. The role may also include coordinating contractors and supervising and training staff.
Key Responsibilities- Performs operational maintenance and minor repairs to HVAC, plumbing, building finishes, refrigeration, ice-making, and swimming pool systems.
- Conducts facility and equipment inspections and performs repairs and janitorial duties as required.
- Plans, assigns, schedules, reviews, and participates in the work of subordinate staff.
- Provides instruction and training to new and existing employees.
- Develops and maintains preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
- Conducts water quality testing and inspections of swimming pools to ensure compliance with provincial standards.
- Coordinates contractors and tradespeople performing minor repair and maintenance projects.
- Monitors contractor work to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable safety requirements.
- Receives, prioritizes, and responds to service requests and work orders.
- Maintains accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and completed work.
- Trades certification or related technical training.
- Experience in building and equipment maintenance.
- Experience operating and maintaining recreation facilities, swimming pools, refrigeration plants, and ice surfaces.
- Related technical courses supplemented by sound practical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience coordinating contractors and supervising or training employees.
- Pool Operator Certificate – Level II.
- Refrigeration Operator Certificate or an equivalent qualification, such as Fourth- or Third-Class Power Engineer certification.
- Fifth-Class Power Engineer Certificate.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s licence.
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $36.74 - $43.21 and a comprehensive benefits package, including a Defined Benefit Pension Plan with Special Agreement option (Municipal Pension Plan).
