Golden West Baking, an English muffin and bun products manufacturing facility located in Anacis Island, is part of CH Guenther and Son. Established in 1984, the company supplies products for food service and retail.

Wed‑Sat / Thurs‑Sat: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
Pay
$22.61 hourly + $1.50 graveyard shift premium
Job Summary
Operate the department under HACCP regulations and WCB safety guidelines. Rotate the position with Technician #1, #2, #3, #4 equally throughout the shift. Priority for all areas in packaging is to ensure customer satisfaction and requirements are met at all times, with responsibility for final quality control checks and proper documentation. Final stages for QC control are in this area, and it is everyone’s responsibility.
If no Bagger Operator is scheduled, Technician #1 will absorb the duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technician #1 – Culler Position
The culler ensures that muffins meet customer requirements prior to bagging in the Priority QC area.
Ensures all product is conveyed, sliced, forked, grouped and packaged properly.
Clears jam‑ups at forkers and conveyors when needed.
Clears jam‑ups at the air divider.
Assists the Bagger Operator with bag and Quick Lock changes.
Assists Bagger Operator when machine jams and trims off muffin trays when needed for all products.
Re‑bags product manually if needed.
Reports all equipment problems to the Bagger Operator and signals a mechanic if necessary.
Maintains the muffin‑packaging area organized, clean and sanitary; dust machines and sweep the floor during production when possible.
Sets up double forkers for raisin dough and cleans blades after raisin production.
Keeps top surfaces of machines clear and clean.
Stores all tools properly.
Adheres strictly to all GMPs outlined for working in a food processing plant.
Assists in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
Works as a team and cooperates with fellow team members at all times.
Works under the direction of the Bagger Operator.
Communicates any product loss, time loss, QA issues, or machine problems to the Shift Supervisor.
Technician #2 & #3 – Take‑Off Positions
Ensures product is in proper bag and has correct clear Kwik‑Lok print.
Trays or boxes packages of English Muffins for shipping.
Operates the metal detector if the bagger operator is busy and maintains log sheets as required.
Checks metal detectors as required and fills log sheets accordingly.
Places properly packaged English Muffins into clean plastic trays or boxes.
Assists the packaging area helper in stacking boxes or trays on pallets (skids) or carts when needed.
Assists Culler in clearing jam‑ups around the air divider and resetting the diverter gate; helps with forker jam‑ups if needed.
Clears and removes muffins from the diverter gate area.
Organizes the take‑off area for the next run and at changeovers (sets up trays, boxes, dividers, and skids).
Assists with bringing trays to the take‑off area during production breaks.
Maintains the take‑off area organized, clean and sanitary; cleans the take‑off round tables and sweeps the floor during production when possible.
Adheres strictly to all GMPs outlined for working in a food processing plant.
Assists in general cleaning of machinery and plant facility as assigned when production is stopped.
Works as a team and cooperates with fellow team members at all times.
Works under the direction of the Bagger Operator.
Communicates with Bagger Operator about shortages and needed product.
Sets up box machine for customer and products with printing details on boxes, codes, lot numbers, etc.
Communicates any product loss, time loss, QA issues, or machine problems to the Shift Supervisor.
Technician #4 – Extra Position
Assists the Bagger Operator with bag changeovers.
Responsible for re‑bagging all muffins.
Takes boxed product off both lines and stacks onto proper skids.
Assists the Take‑off with re‑bagging product when needed.
Ensures all muffins are cleaned up prior to another product starting in the packaging area.
Responsible for breaking down stacks of trays to a manageable height.
Assists with the removal of large waste product bins.
