The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and manufacturing processes comply with Latecoere’s Quality Management System, customer requirements, applicable engineering specifications and aerospace industry standards.

Working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Program, Supply Chain and other Quality team members, the incumbent supports the delivery of conforming products on time and within established cost objectives.

The position acts as the voice of Product Quality for an assigned aerospace or defence program and supports non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, First Article Inspection activities, quality performance monitoring and customer documentation.

II. MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPRODUCT AND PROCESS QUALITY
  • Ensure that products and manufacturing processes comply with approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, customer requirements and applicable quality standards.
  • Provide day-to-day Quality Engineering support to Production and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Review manufacturing and inspection documentation to confirm compliance and completeness.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical requirements and applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective process controls to prevent defects and improve product conformity.
  • Identify product and process risks and work with cross-functional teams to implement appropriate containment, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote quality awareness and a strong Quality culture throughout the assigned production area.
NON-CONFORMANCE AND CORRECTIVE ACTION MANAGEMENT
  • Initiate, review and coordinate the timely disposition and closure of non-conformance reports through the Material Review Board process.
  • Ensure that non-conforming products are appropriately identified, documented, segregated and controlled.
  • Determine when formal root cause analysis is required and facilitate investigations using appropriate problem-solving methodologies, including 5 Why, fishbone analysis and 8D.
  • Coordinate containment actions and support the development, implementation and verification of corrective actions.
  • Monitor recurring defects and quality trends to identify opportunities for systemic improvement.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, escapes, SNAGs and internal quality issues.
  • Verify the effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions before closure.
FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION AND QUALITY DOCUMENTATION
  • Prepare, review and maintain First Article Inspection documentation in accordance with customer requirements and AS9102, where applicable.
  • Ensure that quality records and objective evidence are accurate, complete, traceable and retained in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Maintain required information in company, customer and supplier documentation portals.
  • Support configuration control and ensure that the correct revisions of drawings, specifications and quality documentation are being used.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of inspection plans, quality plans and other program-specific quality documentation.
PERFORMANCE AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
  • Monitor and analyze Quality performance indicators, including non-conformances, rework, scrap, escapes, SNAGs, customer complaints and corrective-action closure.
  • Prepare and present Quality performance information to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Use data and statistical methods to identify trends, prioritize issues and support fact-based decision-making.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, variation, rework and cost of poor quality.
  • Support internal, customer and regulatory audits and coordinate the timely closure of assigned audit findings.
  • Recommend improvements to processes, procedures, inspection methods and quality controls.
CUSTOMER, SUPPLIER AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT
  • Communicate professionally with customers and suppliers regarding quality documentation, non-conformances, corrective actions and other assigned quality matters.
