Become a University Sprinklers Service Assistant. Onsite training, competitive compensation, room for growth, and time for friends and family.

Responsibilities
  • Service, repair and adjustment of irrigation and landscape lighting systems at 5–15 sites per day
  • Support technicians in servicing systems
  • Complete repairs to systems as directed by your trainer
  • Develop the skills needed to repair systems independently
  • Professional and courteous interaction with new clients daily
  • Manage existing accounts
  • Adhere to appointment schedules
  • Provide clear and strong communication with the office/schedulers
  • A basic understanding of computers and applications
  • Demonstrate practical field/trades work, including a basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, landscaping/gardening
  • Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times
Qualities & Qualifications
  • Clean driving record
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Grade 12 graduation (post‑secondary schooling an asset)
  • IIABC certifications are a strong asset
  • At least one year of irrigation experience or a strong aptitude for mechanical hands‑on work
  • Construction‑related trade experience/qualifications are an asset
  • Desire to build a career in service and service‑oriented sales
  • Prior experience in a service‑related industry is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Professional presentation, high standard of professionalism and character

FAQs

What is the typical day? You download your schedule nightly, travel to sites, perform repairs, identify upgrade opportunities, and log work in our database.

Do I need technical experience? No, but prior mechanical or trade experience shortens training.

Travel expectations? No overnight travel. Short commutes within the Lower Mainland; travel time from first to last site is not paid, but overall travel is compensated through piece‑work.

Start date? Training begins March 15 (or as scheduled); typical training lasts 2–12 weeks.

Season? Service season runs March 15 to November 30. Winter is slow; mid‑July to late August is a brief down‑turn.

What other roles can I move into? Installation sales and installation foreman positions are available for those wishing to transition out of service.

Benefits after training? $500 medical reimbursement program (annual), MSP paid, and full coverage of industry‑specific training and certifications.

Schedule creation? Your scheduler builds the schedule up to two weeks in advance.

Time off? Yes, provided requests are made before the schedule for that date is finalized.
