The Driver AZ(Class
1) is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to assigned locations. This role involves maintaining compliance with company policies, ensuring the timely delivery of shipments, accurate completion of paperwork, and adherence to all safety standards and applicable laws/regulations.
Hourly payrate for this position is : $30.50/hour
Essential Details and Responsibilities
Pre-Trip Preparation:
Coordinate with the Transportation Manager or Coordinator for next-day schedules, including start times, routes, and delivery addresses.Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections, including lift gates, pallet jacks, and seasonal safety tools (e.g., snow shovels, ice scrapers).Verify paperwork, keys, and store-specific details (e.g., security codes, phone numbers).Ensure load security and verify skid counts before departure.Delivery Operations:
Follow assigned delivery routes and timelines as per the Driver’s Run Sheet.Implement safety protocols, including using pylons and wheel chocks at loading docks.Unload and verify shipments using barcodes and delivery reports, addressing any issues such as damaged goods.Complete deliveries per store requirements (e.g., pallet drop, hand-bombing, or dock-to-dock).Maintain professional communication with store employees while securing the vehicle and documentation.Post-Trip and Maintenance:
Refuel vehicles and perform post-trip inspections.Clean and organize the truck/trailer, ensuring it is free of garbage and wet floors.Maintain, water and recharge electric pallet jack batteries as needed.Submit all paperwork and report vehicle or equipment issues.Manage returns with proper documentation and organization in the warehouse.General Duties:
Ensure compliance with all safety and company policies.Maintain accurate documentation, including shipment verification and resolving discrepancies.Maintain and recharge electric pallet jack batteries as needed.Accurately log Hours of Service using Electronic Logging Devices or paper logs when required.Assist with pallet and tote organization, ensuring proper placement of returns.Safety:
Practice defensive driving to ensure public safety.Safely operate delivery equipment (electric pallet jacks, lift gates).Use proper lifting techniques to minimize injury risk.Experience, Education, Certifications
Valid AZ(Class
1) license with a clean driving record.Experience operating commercial vehicles, including trucks with lift gates and pallet jacks.Strong understanding of safety procedures and inspection processes.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and adapt to schedule changes.Strong communication skills for interacting with store employees and team members.Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including winter.Physical capability to handle equipment and perform delivery tasks, including lifting and moving goods.Flexibility to accommodate changes in schedules and delivery routes.Willing to work on holidays and weekends as needed.Strong customer service skills.
