Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Millwright at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule of two weeks on and one week off.

What’s the role?

The Millwright reports to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor and will maintain, troubleshoot and repair fixed plant equipment such as SAG/Ball mills, conveyors, compressors, hydraulic systems, pressure filters, pumps, and piping systems.

The specifics:

• Undertake diagnostic, breakdowns, follow-up work, PM’s to a high standard of execution, all work completed in a safe and timely manner.
• Troubleshoots, diagnoses, modifies, fabricates and repairs mobile and stationary equipment in the Mill per supervisor direction Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance program such as reporting fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, inspecting components and parts for proper operation, damage or wear.
• Responsible for gathering technical information to perform the job.
• Prepares computer generated work orders, changes out parts and follows procedures to pick up parts and supplies from the warehouse.
• Performs equipment walk around, inspects and operates equipment, properly disposes of wastes.
• Repair and replace components and parts as needed.
• Provide technical advice and support to fellow Mill Maintenance Team members.
• Ensures workmanship through meeting standards and tolerances and testing of equipment prior to handover.
• Identify correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs as necessary.
• Liaise closely with and maintain effective communication with Mill Supervisors and other key Stakeholders to organise priority breakdowns.
• Ensure correct history is collated and effectively recorded.
• Carry out, provide input to the development of, and comply with, SWP’s and JHA’s ensuring risks are identified and mitigated, and safety standards are met.
• Organise all permits as required (e.g. isolations, confined space and hot work permits).
• Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Rigorous cost management. Avoid rework and the unnecessary use of parts/services.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed correctly and submitted prior to the end of shift.
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ’s, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current Driver’s License.

Desired Experience & Competencies

• 2-5 years mechanical experience in maintaining and repairing fixed plant equipment preferred. § Experience with SAG/Ball mills and slurry pumps preferred.
