River Valley Family Health Centers is looking for an experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our clinics as a Clinical Care Coordinator in Montrose and Delta Colorado.

The Clinical Care Coordinator - CMA position is a full‑time position; 40 hours per week. We are a growing, exciting place to work, serving our community in a variety of ways. Come join our team!

A day in the life of a Clinical Care Coordinator includes:

  • Performing routine clinical procedures such as taking vitals, performing CLIA waived laboratory tests, taking and documenting patient history and chief complaint, assisting the provider with minor surgical procedures, etc.
  • Responds to patients’ inquiries and performs a medical triage function. Obtains appropriate input and direction from the provider as needed to determine the best clinical course of action and recommendations for specific patient health care needs.
  • Provides health‑related education to clients and their families as needed.
  • Communicates appropriately and tactfully with staff, patients, patient family members, and the community. Will work in collaboration with other medical assistants/nursing staff and providers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification in Colorado required.
  • Active CPR/BLS certification required.
  • I.V. Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct patient care, as an LPN in a clinical care setting or an ambulatory care setting required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and listening skills while conversing with patients, families, health professionals and community agencies.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Strong clinical skills and knowledge base including patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate pharmacology.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence, including basic medication administration, knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, clinical examination, and ability to assist in a variety of common office examinations and procedures.
  • Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate the company’s commitment to excellent customer service, including quality care and concern given with internal and external customers, and maintaining courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospital, and pharmacies at all times.
  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with individuals and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to act within scope of license or certification and requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies or urgent, high‑pressure situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet job requirements.
  • Ability to travel to work in any clinic location and attend meetings outside of the service area as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc. Employees are exposed to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards, and are required to complete mandatory vaccines, such as Tdap, Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, and the yearly flu vaccine.
