Assistant Manager - Truck Service

Job Summary

The Truck Service Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in leading marketing and operations for the Truck Service department. This leader assists technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy‑duty trucks and trailers, ensuring travelers return to the road better than when they arrived.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the team to meet and exceed company performance standards, focusing on fast, friendly customer service, product knowledge, and an upbeat atmosphere.
  • Create a trusting atmosphere that encourages feedback from team members and guests, coaching and managing staff according to company policy.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain high‑quality team members while fostering a culture where employees feel respected and recognized.
  • Assist technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy‑duty trucks and trailers in a professional, accommodating manner.
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure all products and services are available.
  • Help achieve financial objectives through effective management of people, products, services, and facilities, emphasizing revenue and profit.
  • Adhere to safety standards and company operation guidelines, including vendor relationships.
Qualifications
  • Leadership experience that sets the example while working alongside team members.
  • Strong desire to grow a career within the Truck Service division.
  • High School Diploma (or GED) required;
    Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Preferred supervisory experience in convenience store, truck service, travel center, or related business activity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Truck Service business preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other managers.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Pay Range

$18.00 – $20.00 per hour. Pay may vary based on responsibilities, duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills.

Typical Physical Demands

The role requires the team member to regularly talk and hear, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform repetitive leg actions occasionally. The team member may lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy objects. Vision required includes close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.

Work Environment

Work may involve exposure to outdoor elements in all seasons, fumes, particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and high noise levels. Exposure to dirt, dust, grime, grease, oil, gas, and high‑concentrated cleaning solutions may occur.
