Job Summary

The overall objective of the Reliability Engineer is to ensure safe and reliable operation of production facilities at the lowest life cycle cost. Support planning of major and specialized maintenance jobs. Collaborate and participate in operations and maintenance jobs, developing and executing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activity programs, and providing technical support to maintenance and operations functions in continuous improvement activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and propose preventative, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans for equipment across their life cycle, specifying and updating frequency for each task based on normal operation and maintenance objectives.
  • Suggest activities for inspection, lubrication, cleaning, and part changes based on manufacturer recommendations, supplier inputs, and plant experience to detect and/or avoid equipment deterioration.
  • Provide technical support and follow‑up to major and highly specialized maintenance jobs.
  • Direct work required for investigation of performance issues that deviate from norms and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support and promote technical development of personnel or work teams according to TPM.
  • Collaborate with technical office on new equipment specifications, ensuring reliability of operation and lowest life cycle cost.
  • Control design and specifications of new parts or components manufactured either internally or by external contractors.
  • Plan major shutdown work requests with thorough instructions, human‑resource estimates, materials, special tools and estimated duration.
  • Own and lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process, including meetings, for major failures to ensure prevention of recurrence.
  • Perform vibration analysis.
  • Manage tribology and analysis of relevant data.
  • Generate notifications from vibration analysis and tribology reports.
  • Ensure new equipment handovers include operation guides, troubleshooting guides and relevant standard work.
  • Utilize Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement of reliability.
  • Adhere to CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times, wearing proper safety equipment on plant grounds.
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in heavy industrial/heavy manufacturing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies.
  • Proven experience in execution of reliability methodologies such as RCA, RCI, FMFA, statistical downtime analysis, fishbone analysis, etc.
  • Proven experience in engineering, specification and design of mechanical systems, assets and projects.
  • Excellent communication, team interaction and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on cross‑functional teams.
  • Proven experience as a self‑starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
  • Proven understanding of electrical regulatory and industrial standards and codes.
  • Proven understanding of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • CMRP or CRE status.
  • Vibration Level 1 or 2 certification.
  • Proven experience in CMMS systems.
  • Proven knowledge of reliability methodologies and strategies such as RCM, TPM, spare parts management, planning and scheduling.
