The overall objective of the Reliability Engineer is to ensure safe and reliable operation of production facilities at the lowest life cycle cost. Support planning of major and specialized maintenance jobs. Collaborate and participate in operations and maintenance jobs, developing and executing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activity programs, and providing technical support to maintenance and operations functions in continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities- Develop and propose preventative, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans for equipment from startup through their life cycle, specifying and updating task frequencies.
- Suggest inspection, lubrication, cleaning, and part replacement activities based on manufacturer recommendations and plant experience to detect or prevent equipment deterioration.
- Provide technical support and follow‑up for major and highly specialized maintenance jobs.
- Investigate performance discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and manage costs.
- Promote technical development of personnel and teams under Total Productive Maintenance principles.
- Collaborate with technical office on new equipment specifications to ensure reliability and lowest life‑cycle cost.
- Control design and specifications for new parts from internal or external manufacturers.
- Plan major shutdowns, including instructions, human resources, materials, tools, and duration estimates.
- Own and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process for major failures to prevent recurrence.
- Perform vibration analysis and tribology assessments.
- Generate notifications from vibration or tribology reports.
- Ensure new equipment handovers include operation guides, troubleshooting guides, and standard works.
- Apply Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement of reliability.
- Adhere to CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and wear proper safety equipment on plant grounds.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in heavy industrial or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Proven knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies.
- Expertise in reliability methodologies such as RCA, RCI, FMFA, statistical downtime analysis, and fishbone analysis.
- Experience in engineering, specification, and design of mechanical systems, assets, and projects.
- Excellent communication, team interaction, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead or participate in cross‑functional teams.
- Self‑starter capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of electrical regulatory and industrial standards and codes.
- Knowledge of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- CMRP or CRE status.
- Vibration Level 1 or 2 certification.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Knowledge of reliability strategies such as RCM, TPM, spare parts management, and scheduling.
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and outdoor conditions.
- Must wear all necessary protective equipment while at the location.
- Required walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Heavy work‑exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, or up to 20 pounds constantly.
