Position: High School Counselor (full-time position) SY 2026-2027

About the Role

American School of The Hague (ASH) is seeking a full‑time High School Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year (start date August 1, 2026).

You Are

A High School Counselor with a Master’s degree in school counseling and a licensure or certification in counseling. You have at least five years’ experience in an accredited international school, implementing the ISCA model, and working with AP and IB Diploma Programs. You possess a strong understanding of worldwide college and career pathways, especially European and North American placement, and have successfully worked within a diverse, multicultural community.

You have recent professional development in counseling and experience using web‑based student information platforms. Your excellent organizational, interpersonal and collaboration skills, and your ability to give and receive constructive feedback, are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive counseling program for grades 9–12.
  • Provide career guidance, college admissions support, course selection and individual student planning.
  • Consult with teachers to integrate guidance curriculum, PSE and child protection content into lessons.
  • Deliver workshops for faculty and parents on issues related to high school students and child protection.
  • Coordinate new‑student orientation, placement and assist families with school‑related concerns.
  • Contribute to educational plans and support crisis response as part of the Student Support Team.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents about students’ social, academic and behavioral progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, faculty and parents to provide a comprehensive counseling program supporting the four domains of international counseling.
  • Act as an advocate for equity, access and opportunities for all students and promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in child protection cases and support crisis response.
  • Engage in daily school life and after‑school activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in school counseling and licensure or certification in counseling.
  • At least five years of experience as a high school counselor in an accredited international school.
  • Experience implementing the ISCA model and working with AP and IB Diploma Programs.
  • Strong understanding of worldwide college and career pathways, especially European and North American placement.
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse, multicultural community.
