We are representing a global robotics firm that specializes in intelligent automation solutions for logistics and manufacturing. The company focuses on enhancing robotic perception and awareness to handle complex industrial tasks. They are currently seeking a specialized Senior Optimisation Engineer to join their European engineering team and drive next-generation logistics automation.

The Role
In this role, you will lead the algorithmic design and deployment of advanced spatial and packing solutions. You will develop the "intelligence" that enables robotic systems to calculate optimal container utilization, smarter loading/unloading, and highly efficient warehouse workflows. Your work will feed directly into a real-time digital-twin environment, bridging the gap between abstract optimization and physical robotic motion.

Core Responsibilities

Algorithmic Design:  Design and implement robust algorithms for 3D bin packing, trailer loading, and space optimization, ensuring maximal utilization and compliance with physical constraints.

Spatial Reasoning:  Work extensively with 3D geometry, collision detection, and geometric data structures to manage pallets, crates, and container interiors.

System Integration:  Integrate packing logic with real-time motion planning and digital-twin workflows to dictate downstream robotic behavior.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with perception and systems teams to ensure algorithms align with robot kinematics and real-world rules (weight limits, stacking logic, and fragility).

Performance Optimization:  Profile and optimize algorithms for high-throughput logistics environments, ensuring they run in real-time or near-real-time.

Solution Engineering:  Translate ambiguous real-world constraints into production-ready technical solutions for global customers.

What You Bring to the Table

Experience:

5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on complex logic.

Technical Stack:  Strong proficiency in  C++  and  Python .

Theoretical Depth:  Deep understanding of computational geometry, spatial data structures, and combinatorial optimization (heuristics, meta-heuristics, or constraint solvers).

Problem Solving:  Proven ability to convert variable logistics rules into concrete, maintainable code.

Communication:  A collaborative mindset with professional proficiency in English; comfortable working across software, robotics, and product stakeholders.

Domain Exposure:  

Experience with mixed-SKU palletizing, container loading, or dynamic storage systems is highly preferred.

Nice to Have

Background in warehouse automation, robotics, or supply chain systems.

Familiarity with robotic control pipelines or motion-planning frameworks.

Experience with 3D visualization tools for simulation and debugging.
