Barge Engineer – Offshore & Marine Operations
We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Barge Engineer to support offshore transport and installation projects for our client.
In this role, you will help ensure that barges are seaworthy, technically reliable, and operationally ready for demanding marine operations. You will work closely with offshore crews, marine teams, engineers, project teams, and external parties such as clients, class, flag, and port state representatives.
This position is ideal for someone with strong maritime engineering experience, solid knowledge of ballast operations, and a practical, safety‑focused mindset. You will play an important role in supporting safe and efficient offshore project execution.
What will you do? As a Barge Engineer , you ensure the safe and efficient operation of barges used in offshore transport and installation activities.
Your responsibilities include:
Preparing barges for seaworthiness and operational readiness
Performing ballast and de-ballast operations during load‑outs, float‑overs, lift‑offs, and tow‑outs
Conducting inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems
Supporting Client, Flag, Class, and Port State inspections
Contributing to repairs, maintenance, and barge modifications together with Equipment Management
Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards

Who are you? You are technically skilled, proactive, and comfortable working in offshore environments.
You bring:
Engineer STCW Certificate of Competence A‑III/1 (Engineer level II)
Minimum 5 years of offshore experience
Strong knowledge of maritime systems and ballast operations
A hands‑on, solution‑oriented mindset and strong sense of responsibility
Currently residing in the Netherlands
