Freelance Permitting & Regulatory Affairs Manager for the North Sea Needed! Are you a freelance professional eager to lead in the emerging fields of CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage) and Hydrogen (H2) businesses? CCUS is critical to the Energy Transition, with numerous projects supporting Shell's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The North Sea is vital for decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries in Northwest Europe and for storing negative emissions.

Key Responsibilities

Developing a comprehensive Permits and Consents strategy.

Creating a detailed Permits and Consents Register covering all project phases.

Overseeing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESHIA) and permits.

Building strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders.

Collaborating closely with project teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met on time.

Your role is pivotal in managing complex environmental tasks and ensuring successful project delivery.

Qualifications

A University Degree

Strong understanding of regulations and permitting requirements in the Netherlands, and preferably in the UK concerning the North Sea

Proven experience leading environmental and permitting activities in the Netherlands

Evidence of effective dealings with regulatory bodies related to North Sea activities

Ability to influence stakeholders and maintain a network with entities like KGG, SoDM, TNO, and Rijkswaterstaat

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Capacity to manage multiple tasks and lead technical teams, challenging existing practices, and driving improvements

Creative thinking to manage key decisions at various project development stages

Leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal skills, emphasizing collaboration, trust-building, and best practice sharing

Familiarity with NAM/Tenaz offshore assets is advantageous

A strong interest in energy transition and CCS projects is beneficial.

Depending on your level of experience, we are targeting an hourly rate of €150
