Are you looking for a role where you do not only manage data but also contribute to the development of sustainable mobility in the Netherlands? Total Energies is looking for an independent data engineer who thrives in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Data Engineer Charging Solutions
(Full time)
Total Energies Charging Solutions Netherlands (TCSNL) operates one of the largest public EV charging networks in the Netherlands. Within TCSNL, the Solutions team develops and manages an important data and energy platform which supports large-scale smart charging, energy optimization, and flexibility solutions for EV charging infrastructure.

Among other things our team is responsible for data ingestion, data quality, cloud architecture, and making reliable data available for algorithms, reports, dashboards, and operational processes. Within the team, data engineering is a core competency: reliable data ingestion, data quality, and scalable cloud architecture form the foundation for all models and operational solutions.

What you will be doing
As a Data Engineer, your contribution will be essential to our energy and smart charging data platform. You will build and maintain data pipelines, monitor data quality, and ensure that our data scientists and energy product owners can rely on consistent datasets. You will work closely with the Lead Data Engineer, and will gain hands‑on experience in a production environment, making a real impact on the success of the Solutions team.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines for smart charging, energy optimization, and reporting

Setting up and improving data ingestion from partners, customers, and suppliers, such as grid operators, energy suppliers, and e‑mobility service providers

Working with data layers (bronze / silver / gold) and performing data quality checks

Developing KPI dashboards (primarily in Databricks) for various internal teams

Collaborating with data scientists to provide reliable input for models and reports

Contributing to the standardization of data structures and API integrations

Systems
Experience or affinity with the following tools is important:

Cloud & data platform

AWS (basic knowledge: IAM, S3, compute)

Databricks (Spark, notebooks, data pipelines)

Data engineering & Storage

Python

API‑integrations (REST, JSON)

The ideal candidate
First and foremost, you are intrinsically motivated to contribute to the energy transition.

In addition to this, you have a:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, or a related field

1–3 years of experience as a data engineer or significant internship/thesis experience

You work in an organized manner and have strong attention to data quality

You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team (data, energy, business development, maintenance)

You are curious about energy and EV charging infrastructure challenges

Our offer
A unique opportunity to explore the world of EV at one of the top three companies with the largest number of EV charging points in the Netherlands. We offer a hybrid working environment, a team of data specialists, and an innovative setting. Furthermore, you will receive a competitive salary based on your knowledge and experience, a collective company and individual bonus.

Additionally, we have a wide range of fringe benefits available such as 25 vacation days and 4 adv days, laptop, telephone and a good pension scheme. There are plenty of opportunities to develop yourself through learning on the job, training and/or education. Within Total Energies there is plenty of room to grow, nationally or internationally.
