As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.
Responsibilities
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering detailed electrical engineering for offshore greenfield projects, with a strong focus on low-voltage power distribution systems.
You will develop high-quality engineering deliverables, perform system studies, prepare technical specifications, and support procurement, testing, and project execution.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will ensure all designs meet project requirements, international standards, and industry best practices.
Develop detailed electrical engineering designs for offshore greenfield projects.
Design and engineer Low Voltage (LV) power distribution systems, while supporting Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) power distribution systems.
Prepare technical specifications and perform Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for electrical equipment.
Participate in and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for MCCs, LV switch gear, UPS systems, and LV distribution boards.
Perform and review Electrical System Studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and selectivity studies.
Prepare detailed engineering deliverables, including:
Cable lists
LV distribution block diagrams
Small power, lighting, and earthing layouts
Termination diagrams
Installation typical hook-ups
Mounting typical drawings
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Instrumentation, Mechanical, Structural, and Process Engineering.
Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable international codes and standards.
Provide technical support during procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience working for an engineering company.
At least 4 years of experience as an Electrical Design Engineer.
Proven experience in detailed engineering of Low Voltage power distribution systems for offshore greenfield projects.
Experience with offshore platform design.
Experience in High Voltage (HV) substation design.
Experience preparing technical specifications, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for:
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
LV Switchgear
UPS Systems
LV Distribution Boards
Experience performing Electrical System Studies and protection coordination studies.
Good understanding of MV and HV power distribution systems.
Strong knowledge of LV distribution equipment and systems.
Proficient in preparing detailed electrical engineering deliverables.
Familiar with ETAP, E3D, and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
Good knowledge of international engineering codes and standards, including IEC, ANSI, IEEE, ISO, NFPA, NEMA, and API.
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
