Senior Project Engineer - EX Lead

Location: The Hague

As a  Senior Project Engineer-EX Lead , you will be responsible for managing and coordinating  Explosion Protection (Ex)  compliance throughout the full lifecycle of complex oil & gas projects. In this role, you will ensure that all equipment, systems, suppliers, and contractors comply with applicable  ATEX, IECEx, and project-specific Ex standards . Rather than focusing on equipment design, you will act as the technical lead for Ex compliance, working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, quality, and commissioning teams to ensure the safe execution of projects in hazardous environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate all Explosion Protection (Ex) compliance activities throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Ensure all Ex-certified equipment, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors comply with applicable ATEX, IECEx, and project-specific requirements.

Manage the Project Ex Assurance Plan, Ex specifications, Ex compliance matrix, dashboards, and project reporting.

Review supplier, contractor, and construction documentation to verify Ex compliance, quality assurance, inspections, and corrective actions.

Coordinate Ex compliance across engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning, ensuring safe installations and preventing potential ignition sources in hazardous areas.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Minimum of 10 years of project engineering experience within the oil & gas industry.

Demonstrated experience with Explosion Protection (Ex), hazardous area compliance, and relevant standards such as ATEX and IECEx.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors.
