Senior and Principal Functional Safety Engineer

Location: The Hague

As a Senior / Principal Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for Functional Safety engineering activities within complex Oil & Gas EPC projects. You will perform, coordinate and review Functional Safety analyses and studies, with a particular focus on SIL and LOPA.
You may take technical responsibility for studies performed by third parties and act as Responsible Engineer or Discipline Lead for an assigned scope. Working closely with engineering disciplines, vendors and subcontractors, you will ensure that Functional Safety requirements are effectively integrated throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities   Perform, coordinate and review Functional Safety analyses and studies, with a strong focus on SIL and LOPA
Act as Responsible Engineer for Functional Safety studies performed by third parties when required
Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable international codes, Functional Safety standards and project requirements
Coordinate technical interfaces with engineering disciplines, vendors, subcontractors and third parties throughout EPC project execution
Take ownership of technical deliverables, interfaces and planning, with the opportunity to act as Discipline Lead
Qualifications   Engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline
10–15+ years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry
Proven engineering experience within Oil & Gas EPC projects
Senior or Principal-level experience with the ability to take technical ownership of an assigned scope
Required Skills   Extensive hands-on experience with Functional Safety analyses and studies, particularly SIL and LOPA
Strong engineering background in I&E, Instrumentation & Control (I&C) or ICSS
Experience reviewing and taking technical responsibility for Functional Safety deliverables and third-party studies
Strong understanding of engineering interfaces, technical requirements and applicable Functional Safety standards within an EPC environment
Preferred Skills   Offshore and/or FPSO project experience

Experience with Functional Safety activities across FEED and detailed design phases
Safety & Loss Prevention (SLP) background may also be considered when combined with strong Functional Safety and Oil & Gas EPC experience
Previous experience acting as Responsible Engineer, Lead Engineer or Discipline Lead
