Business Control Services Intern

About the Program

The NCIA internship is a 6‑month program based at one of our key hubs in The Netherlands, Belgium or Portugal. Our internship opportunities start from either 1 March or 1 September with the start date being dependent on the timeline to secure the required security clearance to work within the NATO community. During an internship, you will join and support a diverse international team and simultaneously learn from our experts via on‑the‑job training, working independently on purposeful projects or initiatives during your tenure.

Finance is responsible to the General Manager and the NCI Agency Supervisory Board for all aspects of financial management and related governance for the Agency covering customer funding for services. Finance has the responsibility for customer rates and financial plan preparation, internal budgetary and fiscal activities in addition to embedding financial policy and provision of financial advice across all business and functional areas of the NCI Agency.

Financial Business Controlling Intern (Projects – TH Branch)

Working within the Financial Planning, Management and Analysis Branch, this internship supports the Hague (TH) Center of Excellence, which oversees financial business controlling of capability projects funded through common and national streams. You will assist in coordinating and monitoring project execution, supporting project closure activities, and refining dashboards and metrics that enable improved oversight. Under the guidance of the Business Controller and finance colleagues, you will liaise with COO sections to track closure progress and contribute to reducing the number of outstanding project closures requiring billing.

This role provides hands‑on experience in financial controlling, dashboard improvement, and project lifecycle management.
