Organizational Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in the Netherlands and under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant LMI/Resettlement; the Project Associate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the management of the Unit’s projects.

This role will support the coordination and implementation of Labour Mobility, Social Inclusion and Resettlement projects in the Netherlands. The role includes project administration, stakeholder coordination, reporting, and operational support to ensure the effective delivery of migration-related activities

Required Qualifications and Experience Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience with project development is an advantage.
Skills
  • Familiarity with Dutch asylum, migration and integration legislation, policies and their practical application;
  • Working knowledge of Dutch and European migration law;
  • Knowledge of migration issues and understanding of migration trends in the Netherlands, specifically on Labour Mobility, Social Inclusion, Resettlement and Family Reunification;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Good administrative and analytical skills.
Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English and Dutch is required (oral and written).
